What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Hard work and dedication to be the best that I can be.

Gabe is a big, athletic kid with a lot of potential.  He is a two sport athlete as he is also a member of the baseball team.  He has good ball skills, excellent hands, and runs good routes.  He became a starter at split end last season where he had a productive season catching the ball while being a good blocker.  He is likely to return as starter at split end in 2017, and should earn some playing time of both Special Teams as well as in the defensive secondary.  He is working hard this offseason to improve his overall speed and strength, and should be a major factor in the COMMANDOS performance on Friday nights this fall.

2016-After missing time early in the season due to injury early in the season, Gabe became a starter at wide receiver and caught passes in 5 of the team’s final 6 games.  He did a great job at split end being a solid blocker as well as a receiving threat.  Ended the season with 9 receptions for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Led team in receptions and receiving yards 3 times during the season.  Had a career best in both catches and yards against Hillsboro when he led the team with 3 receptions for 54 yards and 1 touchdown.  Also led the team in receptions and receiving yards against East Nashville with 3 for 52 yards and a score and Hunters Lane with 1 for 39 yards, other catches came against Station Camp and Gallatin.  His career long reception of 39 yards came in the season finale against Hunters Lane.

2015-Played on the JV team and consistently improved during the season.  He also saw varsity game on Special Teams, at split end on offense, and free safety on defense.  Ended the season with 2 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 kickoff return for 15 yards.  Had 1 tackle and 1 interception against both Glencliff and Hunters Lane while his kickoff return came in the Gallatin game.

2014-Gabe was a starter on both offense and defense for the Freshman team.  He started at cornerback on defense and split end on offense.  He was one of the most athletic kids on the team and made plays for the Freshman squad all season long.  He did a great job at split end as he had the capability to be a good blocker as well as a good receiver.  He ended up being the team’s leading receiver for the season.  He was voted by his teammates as the teams ‘Most Valuable Back’.
